Juniors FAQ

I am excited, when do registrations open?
Registrations will open Thursday 1st August!!

I don’t want to miss out, when do registrations close?
We would appreciate all registrations to be in by Monday October 7th (Day 1 Term 4). At our discretion, we may accept registrations after this date.

What are the dates of the Junior Stars Program?
Monday 2nd Sept to Monday 2nd Dec.

Do we have to register based on birth year, my child wants to play with his school friends?
Yes, registration into Junior State Champs is strictly based on birth year (not school year), so we start and run our program based on birth year to avoid having to form different teams for Junior State Champs.

When is training? (days/times etc)
Training will be held for U8-U14s on Mondays 5:00pm - 6:00pm.
Training for Open divisions will be Wednesdays 5:00pm - 6:15pm

Do I have to buy a singlet?
All players involved in Junior State Champs will require a singlet ($35 - U8s can be supplied with a loan shirt for the weekend). Singlets have a unique number on the back, and can be ordered via mysideline during registration or from the office (cut off date TBA).

If you have a singlet from last year, you are welcome to reuse that - the design has not changed.

That’s the singlet, what other gear will they need?

You do not need any special equipment to play Touch Football. All equipment at training (balls, cones etc) are provided.

At training, any comfortable athletic clothing will be sufficient. Sneakers are fine, but many players prefer wearing something with a bit more traction (footy boots, hockey shoes, trail shoes etc - no metal studs).

I am really keen to get involved, how can I help as a parent?
We love volunteers (we’re all volunteers!), and there are many roles which you can put your hand up for as part of the registration process. We need coaches, team managers, year group coordinators, and more! If you are keen to assist but are not sure exactly how, please contact our Juniors coordinator Jane at juniors@southerntouchfootball.com.au. Or come and see us in the office on training nights.

When are Junior State Champs?
Junior state titles will be held 29th November to 1st Dec.
Typically, U8s only play on Saturday morning (approx 8am to 1pm). Typically, only the older groups (U12 up) play on Friday evening.
Saturday and Sunday are full day commitments, approx 8am both days, ending approx 7pm on the Saturday and 5pm on the Sunday.

I am not sure if I am available or keen to play at Junior State Champs, can I still be involved?
Yes absolutely. We welcome anyone and everyone to be involved, and we understand not everyone can commit to Junior State Titles weekend - please keep us updated with your level of involvement.
